As our team continues to grow, we are excited to welcome a new member, Charles Maccarthy. To help everyone get to know him a little better, he has shared a short paragraph about himself below. Please join us in giving them a warm welcome to the team!

 My name is Charles Afful Maccarthy, and I am from Ghana. I hold a Master’s degree in Communication and have been admitted to the Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence for Business program, formerly Management Information Systems (MIS), at Northern Illinois University, beginning in Fall 2026. I am currently serving as a Graduate Assistant in the Office of Innovation at NIU. In this role, I review invention disclosures to identify their key features, advantages, and potential applications compared with existing technologies. I also prepare technology summaries or marketing abstracts that highlight the invention’s value to support commercialization efforts and industry outreach. I have developed skills in research, technical writing, and communication while working with inventors and industry partners to promote technologies developed by the university.
